Liz Kelz

Principal

On behalf of the entire staff, I am thrilled to welcome you to the 2025-2026 school year.

This Year’s Theme:
Building Creative Coyotes Through Collaboration

While our Applied Learning Core Beliefs are the foundation of everything we do, each year we develop a theme that brings our community together and highlights unique aspects of our program model. This year’s theme was developed with the help of Room 21, who took on the challenge before heading off to middle school. We’re proud of the insight and creativity they brought to the process!

Collaboration is more than just working together. It is about sharing ideas, listening deeply, valuing perspectives, and growing stronger together. When students collaborate, they don’t just learn from one another, they build something greater together. That’s the kind of learning that sticks, and it’s what empowers our Coyotes to become innovative leaders of their own learning journeys!

Our core beliefs as a staff are to:

  • Foster a sense of community and lifelong learning

  • Teach an understanding of accountability and each person’s role in that concept

  • Encourage and facilitate collaboration

  • Provide avenues for students to find their voice

  • Create an environment that promotes problem identification, inquiry, and problem solving

I am honored to be serving this community as the lead learner and cannot wait to begin the year with you.

Sheri Coll

Assistant Principal

Welcome Coyote Community to the 2025-2026 school year.  I am honored to be part of a pack which fosters strong foundational beliefs and traditions both in and out of the classroom. I came to Alice Carlson as a seasoned elementary teacher and building principal, but in addition to my role as an educator, I am a mother and a wife.  My husband and two daughters are all educators in Texas.  Thus, you can say “it is the family business.”  Since graduating from the University of Arizona, I have served as a principal in Colorado and have most recently been part of the Fort Worth ISD family. Alice Carlson is a special place.  As you open the doors at Alice Carlson, you will observe members of our learning community working, learning and growing together.  I believe a crucial part of the success of students is due to the connectedness to school through positive relationships, a culture of collaboration and the ability to create problem solvers.

By forging relationships, celebrating successes and continuing to build on the strong foundation here at Alice Carlson, we are fostering a learning environment where our entire community thrives.

I am excited for this year as I dream of the possibilities, dare to take the risks, and do the work alongside our community!
