I believe schools are built through meaningful relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to ensuring every child thrives. Over the past 20 years, I have had the privilege of serving in public education as a teacher, teacher leader, assistant principal, and principal. As I enter my seventh year as principal of Alice Carlson, I remain inspired by the opportunity to lead a school community that embraces innovation, excellence, and a deep commitment to every student. Each of my experiences has strengthened my belief that students learn best when they are challenged to think deeply, take ownership of their learning, and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.
At Alice Carlson, our mission is rooted in community, collaboration, student voice, accountability, and inquiry. These core beliefs guide every decision we make and shape a learning environment where students feel valued, empowered, and inspired to grow. Every day, I am grateful to partner with our exceptional staff, engaged families, and incredible students as we work together to create meaningful learning experiences and prepare our students to make a positive impact in an ever-changing world.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. Whether we’re gathered in the backyard enjoying good music, great conversation, or simply making memories together, I value the relationships and sense of community that enrich my life, qualities I also strive to cultivate at Alice Carlson.
I look forward to welcoming you to our Alice Carlson family!

I am excited and honored to join the ACALC community as Assistant Principal. Applied learning has been a meaningful part of my life for many years, both professionally and personally. I have experienced firsthand how powerful hands-on, real-world learning can be for students. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and families of Alice Carlson and look forward to supporting the incredible traditions that make this school so special.
Throughout my 24 years in education, I have had the opportunity to serve in many roles, but the most rewarding part has always been building relationships with students, families, and staff. I believe every child deserves to feel connected, challenged, and supported, and I love being part of a community where students are encouraged to learn through meaningful experiences.
My connection to applied learning goes far beyond my work in education. I taught at ALA and fell in love with the applied learning philosophy. At the same time, I experienced it as a parent; my daughters attended Alice Carlson, and my son attended ALA. Watching my own children grow through these unique learning experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the impact these schools have on students and families. Because of those experiences, joining the Alice Carlson family feels a little like coming home.
When I am not at school, you can usually find me exercising, attempting arts projects with my daughter, spending time with friends and family, or keeping up with my dog, Sparky, who always makes life interesting. I am thrilled to be part of the Alice Carlson community and look forward to getting to know each of you throughout the school year.
